Sustainable Agriculture Small Grants Round 2015-16

The Small Grants Round is part of the National Landcare Programme and complements the delivery of the Agricultural Competitiveness White Paper by supporting the resilience, competitiveness and productivity of Australian agricultural and fishing industries.

Originally the total funds available to the Small Grants Round was $2.2 million (GST inclusive) as stated in the program guidelines, with funding to be allocated and paid to successful grantees in the 2015–16 financial year.

An additional $1.606 million (GST inclusive) was allocated for projects during the assessment phase, as the program was significantly over subscribed.

The total $3.8 million (GST inclusive) was granted to 103 projects in June 2015. Grantees included farming systems’ groups, community groups and individuals from across Australia.

The objectives of this Small Grants Round are:

  • to increase the capacity and knowledge of famers and fishers to productively and sustainably manage Australia’s natural resources
  • the adoption of appropriate management practices that will increase the production or improve product quality while maintaining or enhancing the natural resource base.
